Kenyon+Audon:engaged Monday, April 28, 2008 |

Last Friday I was getting pretty nervous for Kenyon and Audon. They had an engagement session scheduled with me and there was a big gloomy cloud (which is fine) hanging over Austin all day. I didn't mind that so much. What bothered me was that my trusty Iphone weather application showed a picture of a lightning bolt for Friday weather. Yeah...so I'm going to lay it out there for you guys. Clouds = Good. Lightning = Bad. By the time 4pm rolled around, the sun came out..and the weather was breezy and the light just beautiful for some picture taking!!! Kenyon+Audon came and pick me up in a massive truck - no really, it was massive. I had to climb my way into the truck..and to get out..I had to make sure I was not carrying any camera equipment so I could jump down. At one point, it was just easier for me to crawl through the center console instead of going from front to back door! Anyways, we really was so blessed with just the perfect shooting weather....as soon as we ended -not even a half hour later, a huge thunder/lightning storm swept through the Greater Austin area. Yes, I have excellent timing. :)

Kenyon told me that Audon loves nature - so they would prefer their session with a view of the hills or a lake/river. So, because I'm an overachiever...I give you the view of the hills.......and of the river.
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

My favorite picture from the session. :)
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

I know... it's really sick how lovely Kenyon looks. Unfortunately, she's lovely on the inside as well. :oP (Great, now I have the Isn't She Lovely song stuck in my head!)
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

Hmmm..tall stalks of grass usually means that I will make you lay down on the ground and pretend you're chilling at home on the couch...except with snakes. :oP
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

I love how some of the places leaves props around for me to use. :)
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

My favorite picture from the session. (Yes, I'm aware that I said that earlier - but it's hard to choose!). This picture actually makes me smile, because a nice breeze was going through and Audon mentioned he can just chill out in the area all day - laying on the rock littered ground. Kenyon was like...No.
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

Double mirrors. :)
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

They were so good about sitting on the railings that prevent cars from falling off the road...see, everyone has to go through at least one potential life threatening scenario during their session with me. It's a rite of passage. :)
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

See this lovely girl? Apparently, she and I have something we share. Bad service at a restaurant. Kenyon told me that she hates when the waiter gives her the bill without asking if they want dessert. The funny thing was this Saturday, I was at a restaurant and was craving their desserts - I was going to place two desssert orders - but the girl bought the check by and we didn't get dessert. That wasn't a peeve of mine before, but now that Kenyon pointed it out, the no dessert thing is really bugging me. (That was a total tangent and had nothing to do with this image.)
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

Back to the program.....I love streak of lights. :) Be assured that if I see a streak of light somewhere, most likely you will be ask to stand and do something in it.
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

At the tracks. :)
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

My favorite spot in the North Austin area. :)
Pink Posh Kenyon and Audon

Kenyon and Audon, see you guys at the Oasis. :)

Stella+Jay:engaged Saturday, April 26, 2008 |

So before I start, I need to say.....STELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. (It can't be helped!) I had intended to post Stella and Jay's engagement session earlier today (yesterday?), but I had a shoot today and right when we got done, a huge lightning/thunder storm happened........so all that has passsed now, and it's almost 4:00am and I'm ready to blog about my Monday morning with Stella and Jay! I met up with Stella and Jay (bright and early...well to me :oP) while I was still in Houston. Yes, I did a lot of shooting last weekend...and this weekend as well. Jay actually flew in from New Jersey for this shoot and had a flight out that afternoon, so we didn't waste any time at all to get started. Stella looked so lovely in her blue sari...and Jay was a nice accessory for her! I love that Jay knew from the get-go that the wedding was all about Stella. :) Also, if anyone know the answer to this...please enlighten me...:) This is probably my fourth or fifth couple that the groom is from New Jersey and the bride is from Houston. Is there a reason why these Jersey guys are taking our lovely Houston ladies away? :)

Look how lucky Jay is........ I did ask Jay if he got Stella by holding out his arms...like in the Bollywood movies. Supposedly, the girl run right into the guy's arms... Stella informed me that it didn't quite happen like that. :) Boo. Thanks for ruining it for me Stella :oP.

It was cloudy all morning and right when I pulled out the camera for my first few shots, the sun came out and look at all that lovely hair light. Yes, I know I sound like a photography geek.
Pink Posh Stella and Jay

This was Stella's idea. I have the most creative brides. :)
Pink Posh Stella and Jay

If you're wearing a sari, a scarf, or anything that can be pulled...be sure that 9 out of 10 times, I'll probably pull it. :oP
Pink Posh Stella and Jay

Giant chess pieces+Stella+Jay=my favorite Monday morning picture :)
Pink Posh Stella and Jay

I love this chill out picture! I have a feeling that this is how Stella and Jay are probably like most of the time. :)
Pink Posh Stella and Jay

I'm leaving for Southern California next week, so of course I had to practice my hiding in the bushes aka parapazzi skills. :oP

Leslie:Bridals Thursday, April 24, 2008 |

On Sunday, I made a new friend! Her name is Katie and she and I had the best time! First we hung out in the Heights with some fabulous ladies. Then, we were off to Montrose and ended the night at a super yummilfabulicious Thai restaurant. Oh...and I guess along the way, I may have shot a bridal. :oP Sunday was actually Leslie's bridal session! Katie came along to help Leslie navigate in her gown. (By the way, Rick is not supposed to be looking...so Rick...stop looking if you're looking. But if you're not looking, you don't have to do anything.) A few of my meetings ended early so I called Leslie two hours before our scheduled session to see if she was ready. She wasn't..but I headed out over to where she was at anyways...because thats how I roll - I gotta keep my brides on their toes! Leslie's aunt was gracious enough to let us use her beautiful, beautiful home as backdrop for the session. I could have finished the entire session in just one little corner of the house!!! Although the strangest thing...I noticed that my closet somehow ended up in Leslie's aunt's home. I will need to find a way to get my closet back! We then took the session down to Montrose (thanks Hang+Eric for scouting the location for me!) and ended the evening with some amazing food, great conversations and lots and lots of laughter. I love my brides. :) Leslie, I just want you to know that I think you are absolutely amazing the way you are handling everything being thrown at you!

The stunning home...and always stunning (inside and out) Leslie. :)
Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

When I walked into the home and saw this...I knew I wanted to shoot at this corner. Okay, this blew my mind - Leslie's aunt made the harpsichord!!! Seriously, who makes harpsichord??!!! She is amazingly talented!!
Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

Look at those curves...(I'm talking about the stairs)...but Leslie's alright too :oP
Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

This is probably one of my favorite picture from the bridal session. Leslie is showing me the crystals that she will inherit one day.
Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

Yups, I could have shot here all day. Wait, I think we did. :o)
Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

So..........apparently Leslie can levitate. I'm actually going to be requiring that with all my brides from now on.
Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

This is my favorite closeup of Leslie from the bridal... :)
Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

Magic hour. :) So, Leslie wanted some non-traditional bridals...well, I decided the best way to do this was to ask her to lay down on the corner of Montrose. Brides, you may want to think twice next time when you ask about non-traditional poses. :oP
Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

Leslie, you're engaged! Stop making eyes at me! :oP Awww, but I am girl crushing on you though. :)
Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

Just another typical levitation picture.
Pink Posh Bridals Leslie

Leslie, you're my hero. :)

Hang + Eric: married Wednesday, April 23, 2008 |

Wedding date: April 19, 2008
Photographers: Mariae* and Vince*
Ceremony: Notre Dame Catholic Church
Venue: Kim Son (Bellaire - Imperial Room)

Early Saturday morning (6am!) I drove to Houston to cover Hang+Eric's wedding. I made it to Houston with just enough time to take a half hour nap before Vince and I headed out to the Intercontinental Hotel for their getting ready. I think this is one of the rare time that one of my asian couples decided not to see each other PRIOR to the wedding day (or even a first look.) But Hang+Eric had put aside three hours after the ceremony for pictures - and they also scouted locations around town to maximize their hours! The best thing about Hang+Eric was that they had emailed me before the wedding and told me that the most important images to them are the ones during these 3 hours. I love that! Plus, they introduced me to a wonderful new place for pictures. I don't really get a chance to explore Houston much since I live in Austin, so it's nice to find such a friendly picture area that has different sort of looks to it and its walkable!! This area is seriously my new favorite place for pictures in Houston! Also, I'm posting A LOT of wedding party/bride+groom images that were taken during the 3 hours than what I normally post since these are what they really want to see most! :)

According to their friends...this series of images apparently sums up their relationship....that's why it's being pinned to the top of their blog :oP
Pink Posh Hang and Eric

The gorgeous bride. Hang told me that she wasn't photogenic.....I'm going to have to disagree with her about that.
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

Vince shot this image of Eric getting ready. The best part about this picture - his expression! It's priceless!

I'm in love with the inside of this hotel.

At the ceremony - The bride being escorted by her mom down the aisle. I think she just saw Eric. :)
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

This image was during the wedding sermon. So, Eric used food to get to Hang's heart. If you dont' recall their
e-session, it was based around a Fuddrucker's buger. During the wedding, the deacon's ceremony was based on food....and they didn't even know he was going to talk about food in his sermon! Hang+Eric, you guy's love of food is apparently well known!!
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

First kiss and exit! Vince was up in the balcony so he was able to snag this great shot of them!
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

The 3 hour photo session begins....NOW! Hang+Eric had the most amazing wedding party. It was hot and humid, but they stuck it out with them - with no complaints! I wonder if Eric+Hang had to bribe them with food to get them to behave so well?? (I'm food bribable!). Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

After 45 minutes, the wedding party was released to go do what they wanted and Hang+Eric took Vince and I midtown for their bride+groom formals. We spent over an hour at this lovely, lovely location.
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

Hang, I don't think you can convince me that you're not photogenic...
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

I think this is my favorite set from this session.......but I couldn't decide if I liked this...
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

.......or this more. (Hang, I don't think you can play the I'm not photogenic card anymore. Noone will believe you!)
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

How awesome are they? I told them to lay on the hot asphalt..and all they said was...Okay!!!!
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

The Imperial Room at Kim Son Bellaire.
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

Hang+Eric went for a plated dinner instead of the typical family style dinner that you normally see at Asian weddings. I actually think the food tasted better plated!

I love the silver on the cake.

So....the image below....it's exactly what you think it is! In Vietnamese tradition, during the reception, the couples goes around and greet the guests - who then hands them their wedding gift (usually in the form of a red envelope). BUT.....before a gift can be received, guests have the option of making the bride and groom perform "tasks" to earn the gifts. This particular task is a common one at Vietnamese weddings - take one (or in this case...two) eggs. The bride puts both eggs on the bottom of the groom's pant's legs..and she has to travel the egg to the other pant eggs. (Sometimes, its a hard boiled egg...sometimes it's not.) Eric got lucky. This was a hard boiled egg.
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric

The party! Hang+Eric had a slammin' reception. The dance floor was basically packed for the entire night. Here they are doing the Cupid Shuffle.
Pink Posh - Hang and Eric
Hang+Eric, congratulations!!! Eric...make sure you keep Hang well-fed - which I'm sure you will! :) We love you guys!
