Jennifer and Tony : Married Monday, April 27, 2009 |

Wedding Date: February 7, 2009
Photographers: Hali* and Marie*
Ceremony: St. Paul's Methodist Church
Venue: Hotel Derek

Jennifer+Tony's original wedding date was the weekend that Hurricane Ike struck. I was about to leave Austin to go to Houston when my husband asked me if I should even go because there was a hurricane coming...and everyone was headed to Austin. But, contract bound...it was a go until we get the call from the bride and groom about
rescheduling/cancelling, which came just a little over a couple of hours I was about to head out. So....after some shuffling around, Jennifer and Tony rescheduled their wedding to February. But Thurst and I were already scheduled for another wedding........so Hali and Marie got the opportunity to document Jennifer and Tony's beautiful wedding. And I do mean it was beautiful. Because Hali is not much of a blogger...and because I wasn't there...if there were anyone who was at this wedding and would like to guestblog...shoot me an email! Otherwise, I'm going to leave you with some long overdue images from their wedding. :)

Stalkers, meet the absolutely adorable Jennifer and Tony. :)

I shot her bridals a few months earlier and already saw firsthand her beautiful wedding gown - that was handled with white gloves ONLY!

St. Paul doesn't allow photography except up in the balcony...so Hali and Marie had to recreate alot of the ceremony moments that most couples typically take for granted!!

Love these images :)

Girls and boys. :)

Hello Rolls Royce. :) A quick shot that Marie was able to grab right before they headed into the reception!

The gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous decor!

Love the cake. *sigh*

The centerpieces. Yes, Jennifer did good on her floral pickings :oP

The first dance. :)

I love this father/daughter moment here. And Jen+Tony during the prayers right before the meal (I think!)

I saw these garter toss images while going through their weddings..and love Jen's expressions here!

Aww..they look like they are having sooo much fun here!!

I was told that Jen's brother is a huge huge huge stalker...so of course I had to give him some blog love!

Jennifer and Tony! Congratulations! All the best to the both of you!!! :)

Kristine + Cat Vinh : Engaged (Miami Style) Friday, April 17, 2009 |

Session Date: April 14, 2009
Location: Miami, Florida

Stalkers, I heart Miami...in a "I want to marry you Miami" type of way...and when CatVinh and Kristine told me that they wanted to fly me out to Miami for their e-session, I was beyond thrilled, excited and nervous. Yes, nervous...because I wanted to make sure I didn't disappoint CatVinh and Kristine with images that could well have been shot in Houston! Thurst and I flew into Miami this past Monday, having one of the worst travel days we have ever had. Plane delayed for two hours. Car rental machine not working. Fuse blown in the rental so we couldn't charge our GPS! Trying to get dinner at our hotel restaurant but was told they stopped serving and there was still 30 minutes left until closing! And the shoot was at 10am the next morning. We were pooped, and I was a little afraid that the rest of our Miami trip was going to be like that. But stalkers, there's always a brand new day around the corner. CatVinh and Kristine showed up at our hotel around 10am...we grabbed lunch at NikkiBeach - where my favorite tv series were being filmed (coinkidenk!) and I got to see Jeffrey Donovan and the uber hot Gabrielle Anwar work it for the camera. And needless to say, the rest of the day went fabulous - even with the heat, humidity, thunder and lightning and CatVinh making every U-Turn possible in Miami. :)

Stalkers, meet the silhouette of CatVinh and Kristine! This is probably one of my favorite image from the shoot - I have about 300 favorite images from this shoot (LOL!). I had no idea the depths of the clouds behind them..what I was focusing on was how her dress was flowing in the wind..and I wanted to capture that motion.

CatVinh drove us to a beach somewhere in Miami (I can't remember the name) and there was a huge hill and the gorgeous clouds in the back. I told Kristine to hug CatVinh in the back and just snuggle into him...and it wasn't until when I got back to our room at the Viceroy Miami that I saw the wonderful expression on both of their faces!!!

CatVinh ruined my shot! HA HA HA! But really he did! We were on the jetty at the beach doing some other poses when I had them stand on the rocks of the jetty....all the while watching the thunder/lightning clouds move out to the ocean...with no rain yet. I posed them like this...and was doing some test shots...when HUGE drops of rain came pounding down. So, we had to quickly scrap the pose....I wrapped my camera in CatVinh's suit jacket and we ran back to the car for shelter. So, not bad for a test shot right? (By the way, I have been teasing CatVinh that he ruined my shot because he was smiling so big here while Kris had the perfect serene expression on her face!)

But let me show you guys how this entire engagement session all started. CatVinh and Krist met Thurst and I at the Viceroy Miami where we were staying. Our room had this crazy hallway that was lined with mirror..and well, I've been wanting to do an infinity shot for a while now! It's hard not to be in the picture with them!!!

My favorite part of they day - NikkiBeach! They took us here for lunch - a totally chic and cool location...where I couldnt' concentrate on food or conversations..because I was distracted by Michael and Fiona from Burn Notice. *sigh* Life is good :) By the way, you can eat on beds here...Thurst pointed out that we ate dinner on our beds the night before when we got denied for food and had to order room service.

After lunch, I reluctantly left NikkiBeach to go to Vizcaya Gardens for the bulk of their engagement session. CatVinh wanted Kristine to wear a white dress for part of the shoot (so it could be a formal session as well) to emulate the wedding dress. Love this location! I could have shot here for weeks. If anyone is going to Europe and need a photographer to tag along on their honeymoon for a bridal/day after session - I would like to apply for consideration! If this is in Florida, imagine Europe!

Yes, my dear stalkers - you may take me to Miami with you for all your engagement sessions from now on. :oP

*Sigh* tall grass, how I love thee.

In a little bit of alleyway that CatVinh and Kristine probably thought I was nuts to make them squeeze into when there beautiful grounds to explore! I like to mix things up and keep my couples on their toes! :)

Yes, this does sorta look like my back yard. HA HA HA HA :)

Another fave from the day.

We finally left Vizcaya Gardens and headed out to the beach for some "beach-y" images. However, these images below have no BEACH in them! :)

And while walking to the beach...there were these tall strands of grass on the sand..and a lifeguard tower in the back with a single palm tree. Stalkers, I almost fainted. This little area seems almost too perfect to be real. Again, another HUGE favorite. (I have many...I really think all my sessions should be in Miami from now on!)

And finally...when we got out to the beach...huge thunderstorm clouds collided into each other...and we had these amazing clouds that looked absolutely surreal for our pictures. CatVinh really wanted a sunset picture at first..but we really lucked out in getting these clouds at that time...with no rain on us for at least 20 minutes. And then the rain soaked us!

So, before heading out to dinner - we went back to the Viceroy Miami and changed into dry clothes. Turned out it was 8pm - American Idol time - and while we attempted to watch it through all the tv static...we did a little mini shoot in the room.

After dinner, we headed out to South Beach to get some of the Deco-Hotels neons.

South Beach at midnight. Yes, I said midnight. :)

And ending this amazing session with another big favorite from the day....(the clouds/skies right before the storm came in!) Yums. :)

CatVinh+Kristine, you guys are the best. :) I love that we got to do the engagement session in Miami and Thurst and I had the most amazing mini-work/vacay. I can't wait to see you guys again in Houston!

Jvas : Bridals + Boudoirs Monday, April 13, 2009 |

Bridal Session Date: January 20, 2009

Good Monday Stalkers. :) I'm about to head out to Miami for a shoot tomorrow (yes, life is rough!) but before I do so, I wanted to do a 2-in-1 blog. :) Meet my girl Jvas. :) Or Jennifer. I have been secretly calling her Jvas while working on her images and little did I realize - until her wedding day - that everyone in college calls her that. So, back on track...Jvas' bridals. Yes, I got a little hint a few months earlier from one of my brides (Haley again...she's so useful!) that a certain cupcake shop in town had amazing interiors. Of course, I called them up to find out their photography policy...told Jvas about it..and here we are! Gorgeousness!

Stalkers, meet the lovely Jvas and her beautiful gown that I absolutely adore!!

So, on the shoot, we had a shoe emergency. I like to occassionally shoot the shoes with the dress on...and when Jvas lifted her dress to show me her shoes..it was moccasins. Yes, it was cute. But didn't quite match? So Adam (her then fiance, now husband) had to drop off her wedding shoes at the store WHILE trying to avert his eyes away from the huge windows where she was standing at!

Love this little green and pink hallway. :) After we were done there..with cupcakes in hand...we headed over to a little empty warehouse for the not so fancy part of the session. :)

Yes, this is the same location I shot Bobby Moon at...I actually shot this bridal before his session, but apparently, I'm blogging all out of whack now! Right before Jvas' shoot, I dropped in to buy a white down comforter...actually planning out the shot below. I know you guys are surprised, since I never plan out anything...but it occassionally happens. :) The image on the right is the one that Jvas ended up enlarging in color for her wedding day. :)

I wanted Jvas to be mannequin-esque here! :) And the picture on the right..is one of my favorite bridal portraits. :)

Awww..she's so pretty....and Adam's soooo lucky his wife is so hot!. :)

.....and tooo prove how hot she is................we did a boudoir session. It wasn't on the same day as the bridal shoot. Jvas asked if I shot boudoirs since I rarely blog them. A lot of boudoir shoots that I do are pretty private and don't always get to be blogged. But I asked Jvas if I could blog hers, because we not only had a crazyyyyyy day of it...she also looked hella smoking! I promised Adam I wouldn't blogged her goodies out there...so, stalkers you are only going to be getting the tame version of the shoot! :oP

Boudoir Session: February 3, 2009
So, it all started like this. Jvas told me after the bridals that she was thinking about doing boudoirs. But she wasn't sure if she should or shouldn't do them and was flip flopping on her decision about it. Ladies, word of advice! If you are even considering it...then do it! I seriously think that there are ladies out there who would never do it in a million years...won't consider it...and ladies who are really open to having the shoot done...and love what they see on camera, which is awesome! When Jvas told me this, I immediately knew what sort of shoot I wanted to do with her. I emailed her some ideas...where we can go..and she responded that she's always up for an adventure and that was that! On the day of the shoot, I met up with Jvas and we headed down to Galveston looking for the roachiest, dirtiest motel/hotel we can find. Well, stalkers...we found several. All of which smelled a little weird...had the look we were going for... but umm...had a lot of strange characters occupying the space with us. So....we thought maybe that wasn't the best or safest idea after all for two girls looking out for each other and so we ended up at the Commodore Hotel - which had the cheesy factor we were going for...and wasn't completely scary!

So stalkers...meet the crazy hot Jvas! Yes, I know girls normally book Icon or ZaZa for this...but really, where else can you get orange curtains with cement brick walls?

I went through all the "outfits" Jvas bought with her..and this super cute one that I was instantly drawn to...was orange and teal. Well, the room was orange..and I was wearing teal heels that day...and the rest is history. :)

Jvas told me that Adam had these hole-y old boxers since he was 14...his lucky boxers. So she stole it for the day - hoping he wouldn't notice - wanting to wear it for the shoot. Ummm, boxers aren't any fun for guys on girls..unless you're doing this below....:oP

Seriously, one of my favorite image from a boudoir shoot (that I'm allowed to post). She's so maxim here to me. :) Jvas, I know you want me! :oP

And of course we couldn't go all the way to Galveston without hitting some beach scene! It was actually really chilly. But I didn't want it to be all boudoir-ish...I love looking at shopping catalogues..and wanted to do a couple with Jen that had a Jcrew/Abercrombie feel to it. :)

...And ending with this last one of her and the marshmallow lollipop that she fell in love with. :)

Jvas, you know you're my girl! I have seriously enjoyed all of our crazy photography adventures together. :)

Jackie + Jim + Hot Tamales : Engaged Saturday, April 11, 2009 |

Session Date: April 10, 2009

So I learned something about myself today. I'm not cut out to be a spy or a secret agent or even a tax auditor. No, dear stalkers - I'm undeniably bribeable. And all it takes is a case of Hot Tamales Cotton Candy. Yes, I said a CASE! Stalkers, you may know by now that I rarely - if ever, blog out of order...and when today's session started - I had no plans to skip 30+ blogs from February to April - to blog today's e-session downtown. In fact, even when Jackie told me she had something for me and gave me one bag of the cotton candy, I didn't intend to skip right on over to her. But, at the end of the night - when Thurst walked back in to the restaurant where I was having some of my meetings tonight - with a huge shopping bag full of Hot Tamales Cotton Candy - I realized that Jackie and Jim needed some immediate blog love. Yes, it's shameless. Yes, some people whose wedding date was on February 28th - and has been patiently or impatiently waiting for their blog may call me a so-called "meaniehead" on certain social networking sites - but really...I've been looking for these cotton candy for a while now. So, with that said....

Stalkers, meet my new favorite couple....Jackie and Jim :oP This girl knows the way to my heart. :)

We started the engagement session downtown in Houston and had overcast skies the entire afternoon.

So, it took just a little while for Jackie to warm up to my camera - but I have to say that whatever Jim was whispering to her helped a bit. I'm sure it wasn't the least bit naughty. :oP

There's nothing like some liquid courage right Jackie? :) The bartender suggested the Pink Diamond Martini and it was absolutely delish!!

I love these two moments right here. :)

Stalkers, this is a two in one. Jackie showed me a couple of images that she had printed out from my blog (and other photographers' blogs) that she liked. One had the chandelier in the back..and one had an arm drape. Yes, I'm really efficient, so I combined both in one image. :oP

On the way to the shoot, Haley (one of my former brides) texted me to let me know she was going to crash Jackie's shoot, since she knew Jackie and asked if she should bring flowers. I told her balloons. I have a current fascination with balloon pictures right now...and so sweet, un-mean Haley showed up with ten luft balloons for Jackie. :) Plus how perfect is Jackie's yellow dress with this??!!

Yes, Jim needs some blog love too :P. Can I just tell you guys that he was an au naturel in front of the camera?

Another checkmark off her image sheet...I think. :)

...but this wasn't on her image sheet...and I LOVE this one of them. :)

Jim thought he was the main focus here....ummm...but Jackie's so much prettier. :)

Just a sweet little moment at the end of the shoot. And STALKERS, we had to BEG Jackie for the last picture. But it's one of my favorite from the session. And yes, those are black heels hanging on the electrical line. :)

Jackie+Jim, thanks for a really fun shoot and the case of Hot Tamales Cotton Candy. Once 12:01am hit, we devoured them..and finished up three bags already?? :) And a huge thanks to Haley not only for the balloons - but for helping me during my meetings while Thurst had to defect to go with Jackie+Jim out to their car to get the cotton candy. :)
