Austin Wedding Photography
Bridal Session Date: December 19, 2009
Venue:
Le San Michele

It's a rare Saturday night when Thurst and I get a night off to watch some NFL football. Usually, at this time...we're watching all the wedding guests do the Cupid Shuffle..or singing along to The Outfield's song, Your Love. We do have one more wedding before we close out 2009...and that's coming up on Monday! Yes, a Monday wedding. :) But, I didn't go "shoot"less today. I woke up bright and early at 8am to get ready for my maternity shoot with Meagan and Kevin...and then headed right over to Le San Michele for Paula's bridals. And I'm feeling a bit in a wedding mood right now. I guess because I feel like I should be at a wedding tonight. So to make up for it...I wanted to share with you guys Paula's bridals from today. It really couldn't have been a more perfect December day for it. The weather was in the 60s...the wind was just right...and well, you can't beat how gorgeous the grounds of Le San Michele are. Plus, as you stalkers probably know by now...I do have the most absolutely, deliciously, gorgeous brides. Paula's wedding is coming up in just four weeks and she assured me that she would keep her fiance away from the blog so that I can share her session with you guys. :)

Stalkers, meet the delightful and insanely beautiful Paula. :)

She's fierce right? :)

So...Paula made the mistake of telling me that she loved non-traditional bridals. Non of those posey pose stuffs for her. She said she was up for anything I could think of. Well stalkers...I saw a little swamp area right off the side of the main house...and seriously...fire ants, attack trees, holey rocks and 4 inch heels later...Paula rocked it out.

It's like a trash the dress session...without actually doing any damage to the dress. :) (But really, who does this four weeks before their wedding??!)

LOVE. :)

And really Le San Michele does not stop giving to me. These three horses came out from nowhere while I was shooting Paula right here....

...on the Alumacraft in the middle of an open field. Can this be any more perfect?

Stalkers..yes, it can. A chandelier...a daybed...all in the middle of the field. I thought I died and gone to photography heaven!

Stalkers, this is how I know its definitely Christmas! I've mentioned several times to Thurst that I wished there was a random bed out in a field somewhere so I can shoot a bridal. Le San Michele has now officially become my favorite location for a bridal. :)

She's soooo cute right? I gotta holla at Meredith for setting me and Paula up! I LOVE YOU Meredith!!

The last one of the day. And one of my favorites.
Paula, thanks for being sooooo amazing today. :)

Jackie + Jim : Married Friday, December 18, 2009 |

Houston Wedding Photography
Photographers: Thurston* and Mariae*
Wedding Date: November 7, 2009
Wedding Ceremony:
La Tranquila Ranch
Wedding Reception Venue:
La Tranquila Ranch
Wedding Coordinator: Samantha Darr with
Soiree Bliss
Wedding Gown Designer: Pronovias

It's a little more common for us now, but back in 2008...Jackie was my very first bride who booked us completely over email. Without a face to face consult. I wasn't sure how to handle it. I really wanted to meet her. Make sure we clicked. Clicking with my clients is such a huge deal to me. I mean, we are going to spending only the biggest day of your life together for at least 8 to 10 hours!!! Sometimes more. Sometimes we spend days together. :o) But, Jackie didn't feel the need to meet us. In fact, all she needed from me was a contract to fill out so she can mail in....and well that was that! When I finally did get to meet her...admittedly, I was a little nervous. What if we didn't get along? But stalkers, I worried about all that for nothing. Jackie turned out to be incredibly lovely and sooo sweet...and I was excited for her wedding to just happen already! :)

Stalkers, meet the gorgeous couple...Mr. and Mrs. Hoopaugh. :)

Love the Save The Date postcard that Jackie+Jim sent out. I think I found this on their fridge. :) Just in case they forgot when they were supposed to show up for their wedding. :oP

Martinez Valero and her something blue.

Jackie's gorgeous Pronovias wedding gown.

Before the ceremony, I stole Jackie away for some super quick bridals in the manager's office. :)

Yes, all my brides are gorgeous. It can't be helped. But I love it. :)

Jim's a lucky guy. :)

Because Jackie and Jim were going to have a wedding that would end around sunset, they opted to do a "first look" in order to maximize photography time. :)

If you're undecided about whether to do a "first look" or not on your wedding day...this series should help you decide. :)

Love this. They are seriously so wonderful together. :) Absolutely infectious.

Since time was of the essence, I started immediately on their couple's portraits.

Seriously could they be any cuter together?

Then the bridal party met up with Jackie+Jim for the wedding party pictures...for literally a few minutes before we got shoo-ed inside to get ready for the ceremony! I had the girls...

While Thurst kicked it with the boys. :)

And everyone together. :)

She's darling!!!

Jackie's all white wedding bouquet.

The wedding invitation.

About this time...the priest asked everyone if they wanted a long sermon or a short sermon. Guess which one the guests chose? :)

My version of their first kiss....

...and Thurst's. :)

Love this!

We caught some gorgeous light during cocktail hour.

Details...details. :)

I love monograms. :)

Jackie+Jim's cake topper...is of Jackie and Jim!!! They even replicated his goatee..and her wedding dress!

Jackie+Jim had mariachis at their wedding....to celebrate Jackie's heritage...

...along with Irish dancers to celebrate Jim's heritage!!!

The male dancer in the middle is actually going to be dancing in the Lord of the Dance!

Their first dance. :)

Again. I love Father/Daughter dance. There's nothing like it. :)

I admit. I love Mother/Son dances as well.

I know I may have twisted Aaron's arm a little to get him to dance with Jackie..but, I told you, I love Mother/Son dances. :) Plus, it made Jackie so happy to have this dance with him on her wedding day. :)

Jackie dancing with her sister. Stalkers, I'm really close to my sisters, so I may have teared a bit when I saw how happy Jackie's sister was for her. :)

Mr. and Mrs. Hoopaugh! :)

Heart.

Jackie and Jim (and Aaron!)...congratulations. :)

Ly + Duy : Day After / Trash the Dress Thursday, December 17, 2009 |

Day After / Trash the Dress Session
Location: Puerto Vallerta
Session Date: December 13, 2009

Stalkers, I feel as though I've taken you through a journey with Ly+Duy. And of course it wouldn't be complete unless I shared with you all their Day After / Trash the Dress session in Puerto Vallerta. I honestly thought that when I arrived at their "casa" on Sunday that they would call off the Day After session with me. After all, they had quite a party the night before. Not sure if the bride and groom or even any of the guests remembered any of the events that happened after 8pm the night before...but well..stalkers, they stuck it out with me the next day...and I'm sooo glad they did! :)

We stayed at Garza Blanca for the entire shoot. This place was absolutely too lovely to pass up.

Duy+Ly are photo-enthusiasts...so are all about creating exciting images. I asked Ly to sit in this little window opening that was ummmm..quite precarious. Duy was of course concerned he might lose his brand new wife of just a day...so I had him hold onto her on the other side. :)

LOVE!

Why can't we have locations like this in Texas?

Duy+Ly are all about hanging off of ledges. :)

The something blue...and a little red on the bottom. We know what they be! :)

Garza Blanca had an infinity pool that looked out to the ocean. Absolutely. Gorgeous.

You know it's not a Trash unless an actual trashing of the dress was done!

My favorite.

Not bad for the middle of December right? :oP

Ly + Duy : Married Tuesday, December 15, 2009 |

Destination Wedding Photography
Photographers: Thurston* and Mariae*
Wedding Date: December 12, 2009
Location: Puerto Vallerta, Mexico
Ceremony: Garza Blanca
Venue: Garza Blanca - Blanca Blue Restaurant
Wedding Designer: Marisa

Stalkers, I wanted to share with you guys a little recap that Duy (the groom) wrote about their destination wedding on their personal wedding blog. It summed up everything so perfectly, that anything I was trying to write for this post...really paled in comparison. Well, except for the part where I wrote how the wedding party entered the reception to "Don't Be Tardy for the Party" - one of the best songs of ALLLLL TIME! So, I backspaced all the text I spent 20 minutes trying to write....and C&P'ed instead. :)

-------From Ly+Duy's Wedding Blog------------

Bag not ever making it out of the taxi full of camera equip and other electronics .... $3500

Flipping over in our kayak just as we're shoring and losing ly's brand new sunglasses .... $350

Receving our luggage off the carousel with it's contents spilled open and missing .... $400

Having the time of our lives with our family and loved ones .... PRICELESS

Stalkers, I know that by now you are extremely familiar with this gorgeous couple. But in case you have been hiding under a rock - or just don't do the whole blog stalking thing...meet Ly+Duy. :)

Ly working super hard on her thank yous. She gave a shout outs to each and every group during the reception during her toasts/thank yous.

Her something blue. Christian Louboutin's and Marc Jacobs. Ly admitted to me that she's a shoe whore. I think she's merely a shoe connoiseur. :)

Stalkers, can you guys believe this amazing vintage inspired bridal bouquet? The groom's sister hand-made Ly this bridal bouquet...

...and she made four of these bridesmaid's bouquet....

...even a throw bouquet....

...and Ly's sister made all these delightful boutinnieres!

Really. Love. Love. Love.

Every wedding should have fun socks!!!!! I'm going to put it in the contract that wedding socks cannot be black anymore!

Brides...this is what it is all about on your wedding day. Being pampered by your besties. :)

A little candid moment while Ly waited for the videographer to set up.

Ly with all of her girls. Yes Ly, your bridesmaids are pretty smokin'. :)

Below on the beach, there were several canopies on low decks looking out toward the ocean. Although I wanted nothing more than to just kick my shoes off, hand my cameras off to one of the many guests who are huge photo enthusiasts, and lounge on the canopy all day...stalkers, I stayed professional and kept working. :) But it was one of the toughest decision I had to make. :oP

At the gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the ocean and the mountains of Puerto Vallerta.

While I was with the girls, Thurst took Duy and the boys out for their own photoshoot. :) Duy looking all GQ on his wedding day. :)

Love. Thurst rocked the groom+groomsmen shoot!

This reminds me of CSI Miami or Miami Vice. Not sure. But I LOVE. :)

Heading to the ceremony.....

The part when their friend who officiated the wedding asked Duy to say "bedded wife" instead of "wedded wife." A little Freudian slip?

Could this location be anymore perfect?

Absolutely radiant. :)

Exchanging their vows.

Their first kiss. :)

Thurst caught this little morment right after they recessed. Their first hug as Mr. & Mrs. :)

Mr. and Mrs. Le. :) That means Ly gets to be Ly Le. :) (Pronounced "Lili").

Can everyone just PLEASE have destination weddings at gorgeous, perfect locations where it's 75 degrees all day long in December and take me with them? :)

I thought it was time for the boys and the girls to fraternize :).

And a quick little last romantic shot of the couple before heading into the reception. :)

Details...details...details. :)

Ly+Duy during a prayer that the father of the bride made before dinner service.

Remember those thank yous she was working on earlier? Ly not only personally thanked friends and families...but also gave a sweet thank you to Duy. :)

Their first dance....with each other...

...and they invited all their friends in to finish their first dance with them. :)

OMG! Stalkers.. Seriously. How much cuter and perfect can this wedding be? A vintage photobooth - backdrop. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Photobooth props are multi-functional. :)

And the chef surprised everyone with late night snacks. YUM!!!

Ly+Duy, you guys are absolutely wonderful. Thank you for letting us tag along with you guys to Puerto Vallerta for your wedding!!! :)

Duy + Ly : Married |

Destination Wedding Photography
Day After Session / Trash the Dress
Location: Puerto Vallerta (Mexico)

Hola Stalkers!!! Thurst and I had an amazing time with Duy+Ly and family/friends in Puerto Vallerta this weekend! You guys know I had to do a quick sneaky peek right before I do their wedding blog? This is from their Day After/Trash the Dress session. More to come! :) Enjoy!

Ly + Duy : Engaged Saturday, December 5, 2009 |

Austin Engagement Photography
Session Date: Saturday, December 5

So, I figured how hard could today's session be? All the inspiration images that Duy+Ly sent me were all silhouettes, blurry - out of focused images, and shadows. Really, it would have been hard to mess up this shoot. LoL! Stalkers, I admit, today kicked my butt! We did everything today! Road biking. Jogging. Rock climbing. Yes, I said rock climbing. Duy+Ly is getting married next Saturday in Puerto Vallerta - and they are taking us along (WOOOHOOO!!!) - but before we get to the wedding part...we have to do the engagement pictures part. So, while it dipped all the way to the 30s today..and Ly was freezing in her cute vintage clothes and adorable heels - we had a totally inspired shoot that had us almost become roadkill several times.

Stalkers, Duy+Ly are road bikers. So one of the very first thing they wanted in their session were them riding in wedding clothes on a road bike...with no clips. :oI

I love how the wind caught Ly's dress here.

A sweet little candid moment between the two of them. This is one of my favorite from today. :)

Ly mentioned that she and Duy had matching shoes for everything. All the activities that they do together...so of course I had to get one of their biking shoes. :)

I cannot get enough of this gorgeous field.

Duy+Ly loves silly and whimsical....and this was an image that they specifically requested. Love this. :)

Ugh. Her shoes are killer.

The perfect little vintage car. :)

And of course silhouettes. Ly loves, loves, loves silhouettes.

We caught the last second of sunset.

I know this looks like its a picture of a really big tree...and two very small people. BUT!! Ly really really really really wanted a picture with a really big tree in it. :) So of course, its blog worthy. :)

And of course the rock climbing. Thanks to Austin Rock Gym for hooking us up and letting us invade their space!!!!

Our very last shot of the night!!

Duy+Ly, thanks for rocking it today!! See you guys on Friday!!!!

Pink Posh Babies: Amber and Aiden Thursday, December 3, 2009 |

Austin Family Photography
Session Date: December 3, 2009

Stalkers, today we threw together a little impromptu photo session for one of my friends and her darling toddlers. :) Their mom had several warddrobe changes for them...tons of ideas...but as you may know with kids, plans get shot right out the window. Especially when naps haven't been had...an especially cold day, a huge open, wonderful field to play in...and well, 2&4 year olds just want to do what they want to do. So, stalkers, here's what I got them to do for maybe 20 minutes with bribes that I knew Santa personally...would tell him nothing but glowing reports about them...and promises of Star Wars and gum. :)

Stalkers, meet Amber and Aiden...and a little piece of their mom. :)

I think I got three snaps here on the rockers..before they told me they were done.

Dear Santa...Amber was amazing today! She was absolutely delightful and I think that she should get everything on her list. :)

Dear Santa, Aiden was pretty good. He's a boy...and well in his terrible twos, but he did have some wonderful moments as you can see. :) Definitely worthy of tons of Star Wars and Spiderman toys!!

And of course...the kiddos and their Santa....I mean mommy. :)

Vince + Jenny : Engaged |

Austin Engagement Photography
Session Date: December 2, 2009

Stalkers, my brother is getting married. In just a few months - that will inevitably fly by - we will be heading to Toronto during the summertime to celebrate with him and his sweet fiancee, Jenny. But before all that can happen, Jenny and Vince headed down to Austin for their engagement session. Vince really wanted to stay in Houston for his session, but I had this field near my house that I've fallen completely head over heels in love with and wanted to do the bulk of their engagement session there. So...yesterday, when the weather in Austin was cold and blustery...and when all the Facebook statuses from Dallas reported snow....I took them to my secret little field in Austin.

Stalkers, meet Jenny and Vince....and my little piece of photography heaven in Austin. :)

I thought that since Jenny was from Canada, that our Texas winter would be like springtime for her. But apparently, when it's cold...it's cold. Especially when you're wearing a dress. :)

Love.

And so before it got too late in the day, I took them down to my favorite little spots around South Congress for the rest of their shoot.

So stalkers...confession. There's a small handful of more romantic pictures than what I'm blogging. But honestly, as the "little sister," I couldn't bring myself to look too closely at it. And if we're being completely honest...I totally shut my eyes while I snapped the "kissing" pictures. So...instead, here's the "little sister" approved image. :)
Vince and Jenny, congrats!! :)

Beth + Ray : Married Tuesday, November 24, 2009 |

Austin Wedding Photography
Photographers: Thurston* and Mariae*
Wedding Date: November 6, 2009
Austin Wedding Venue: Mercury Hall
Dessert: Amy's Ice Cream

It happened on a beautiful, absolutely perfect Friday evening. Beth and Ray exchanged vows and celebrated their wedding with an intimate small outdoor ceremony out at the beautiful Mercury Hall. Their itinerary called for first dances and all sorts of other wedding hooplas and traditions. But...as the reception started, Beth and Ray decided to nix everything off of their itinerary and just mingle and visit and simply enjoy their friends and families who flew in from the East Coast to celebrate with them. :)

Stalkers, meet the sweet couple, Beth and Ray with their babies on tow. Gizmo and Bella! Gizmo and Bella were the flower girl and ringbearer. :)

Beth told me when she saw this purple beauty, she simply had to have it. They are quite fabulous. :)

I absolutely fell in love with the gorgeous florals at the wedding.

I heart these wildflower boutonnieres.

Beth had tons of pumpkins scattered around the venue. She told us that she absolutely adored pumpkins. :)

Love. love. love.

Because Beth and Ray was having an outdoor evening wedding, they decided to do a First Look.

The moment right before.

And after. I love first looks. :)

The advantage of first looks...we get the most amazing light for portraits. :)

Beth and some of her besties. :)

Ray and his boys. :)

This is my absolute fave of Beth. Plus, look at that gorgeous light right behind her.

The ceremony details. :)

Beth with her dad walking down the aisle...with her mom and her baby girl Bella looking on. :)

All the lovely little details at the reception. :) Love the Mr. and Mrs. sign. :)

Beth and Ray had an area devoted to their grandparents. :)

I took Beth and Ray around the property for a little bit for a couple of nighttime couple portraits. First off...the main doorway. There were tons of guests looking on and whistling at them during this. :)

And of course, I could not resist shooting at these spots of light perfectly placed around the grounds.

Beth and Ray, congratulations!
