KayCee Lynn : Stripped
I know the title of the blog makes it very provocative, but stalkers, I invite you to read this post instead of just skimming the pictures, and you will understand what I mean when I titled this type of session "stripped."
KayCee Lynn and I have been in contact with one another for over a year. She first found out about my photography from April+Brenden's wedding last April 2007 and contacted me about doing some sort of photoshoot - either family or a private session for May 2007. As we coincided schedules, life happened and the shoot got pushed further and further into the future, until finally we decided on meeting up on June 16, 2008. Throughout the year, KayCee and I sent sporadic emails to each other discussing our different ideas for the shoot. She was in a very unique place in her life a year ago and in her own words told me that she was going through a lot of changes, heartaches, moving on and letting go and asked for a "stripped" down session. As the year went on, the intial idea of the session evolved as she was in a very different emotional place now than when we first spoke. Personally, for myself, my creative viewpoint changed as well. So when we finally did meet up at a McDonalds in Galveston on an absurdly hot and sunny Monday afternoon - well over a year after when the first email was sent, we sat and talked for an hour while waiting for the sun to go down. By the time we were ready to start the session, I had gained wonderful insight into this complex girl that dozens of emails throughout the past year could never adequately show.
Stalkers, I love the whole concept of this shoot - stripped down and completey raw. There was no other agenda to this shoot for KayCee except that she wanted to have HERSELF documented at a turning point in her life. Here is a girl who has found out the type of woman she wants to be. The type of woman she already IS. For me, I had to think differently - because this shoot was so different from others I have ever shot. I wanted to make sure the images show even just a smidgeon of her spirit, her sarcasm, enthusiasm, the thougtfulness in her speech and most of all her wonderful unique style. For this post, I am not going to go through and comment on each picture. Rather, I would like to introduce you to the lovely KayCee........
